1. Facebook
Facebook is a creative way to stay connected with your friends, whether they're graduates or incoming freshman you should friend them. So far this summer, I have friended mainstream students such as Gianna Canivez, from Photo II. I have had one yearbook staffers, Rachel Angulo friend requested me.
Part of my dialogue with Gianna
I am glad Ms. Lineberger had us work together during Art Show set-up. Was she an awesome teacher all year? I am glad I had her for Photo 1.
Great picture of you on the Photography colophon page in the yearbook!
Gianna said
Aww! I am glad to. She was a great teacher.
2. Chaparral Yearbook
Chaparral's yearbook serves as a great way to stay connected as many students and teachers sign it. Students often write their cell #'s and emails in the yearbook. For graduates, the yearbook serves as a memory of all their years at Chaparral.
3. Text messages or cell phone calls
Some students text message each other during summer break. Students arrange plans with their friends. Friends call each other as well.
4. Life Skills graduating seniors receive a book of pictures.
Our students and teachers sign an index card that goes in a book for the seniors that are leaving Chaparral's Life Skills department for good. Certain teachers write a message for their students who are leaving. Our Lookout Club president, Nick Hahne just graduated and we wrote messages for him.

Finals, finals and more finals
Tomorrow is our last day at Chaparral! Seniors are getting excited for graduation and I am excited for them. Today for me was finals in Yearbook and English. Yearbook wasn't much of a final. English was a huge final on Romeo and Juliet. I don't know how I did.
Melissa and I hung out with Elan and Kariann today during Yearbook until 11:10. I wrote a graduation message for Anna Neff.
What a great day! I went to see Ms. Lineberger between 3rd and 4th hour. She was so happy to see me. We got our last hug in today. I will see her tomorrow for the final in Photo 1. On the way to see her, I saw Hannah Hulst with one of the Art teachers. I high-fived Hannah.
Tonight is my cousin, Matt Schmidt's 8th Grade Graduation.

1 More Week to Spread the Word to End the Word
Surveys show that 77% of students are bullied mentally, physically and verbally.
I'd like to end this by encouraging you to Spread the Word to End the Word until the end of the year! During yearbook distribution, I heard the r-word get used twice. Once during 4th hour distribution, when two staffers couldn't the ticket window to open. After one of our security guards came to open it- they said "Were we retarded or was it stuck?"
Thank you to all the teachers who haven't used the highly-offensive r-word (Retard or retarded) during class. I know it's tempting for you to do so.
I'd personally like to thank our r-word masters who've supported Best Buddies and Special Olympics by making their pledge.
Mrs. Spahr, one of our terrific art teachers, was the first teacher to make the pledge.
Mrs. Regier, our speech and language pathologist, was the second teacher to make the r-word pledge
They made the pledge after I sent a poem out about similarities people may have.
Homework: If you haven't made the pledge online already. Please do so)

Days Go By: Last few weeks of school
This year has flown by.
"After next week, we are done." - Lineberger
Best Buddies and Lookout Club are almost done. Best Buddies has our last event on Monday night. Lookout Club wrapped up with a pizza party. 8th graders, Gung He and Rebekah Bond came (there was one more 8th grader that came, but I don't remember who.)
Next week is our last week of classes before finals. Seniors are almost graduating so sad. I am happy for them but sad at the same time since I am close with many of the seniors.
Next Tuesday, I am staying to help Ms. Lineberger set up for an Art show. It's an extra credit opportunity. It just feels right to help her out. I will NOT be texting or calling anyone at all, since this is kind of like a job.
On Wednesday after school, Chaparral Unified Sports has their last track meet and tennis competition at Chaparral.
Today during second hour, Mrs. Meyer asked me to go get the yearbook for our forme r security guard, Ray Johnston's daughter from Ms. Shcolnik.
Famous quotes from this week
Firebird Word: "Shout to Ms. Lineberger."
I talked to her for a bit and asked her this, "How was last night?" (last night being the Congressional Quayle Art Show reception.)
We didn't win Best in Show. As she was telling me, another school's pencil drawing won Best in Show.
Afterwards, I told her this, "Lineberger, I'm not saying this doesn't matter, you're still awesome!"
Ms. Lineberger to me "You are awesome as well."
Blake Sykes "You did awesome on Firebird Word."
Mrs. I (during Lookout Club.) "For Leadership Conference, I hear you're on the plane with Emma." (Emma Kitnick)
McKenzie Rosser "Are you excited for Leadership Conference. It's 100% humidity!"
Nick Hahne, today "How are you, Lindsey? I hardly see you this year. Getting recycling going?"

Did you know?
Chaparral Boys/Girls' tennis won state?
Ms. Lineberger was also nominated for Silver Apple through AZFamily, but didn't win? Mrs. Holland had to sign the nomination form at lunch.
Best Buddies is the largest club on campus? Emmie Ray, Emma Kath and Emma Kitnick were my Best Buddies last year (2009-2010)?
The Art Club goes to Disneyland?
Lookout Club goes bowling with Alumni Lookout Club members? Best Buddies hosts bowling event as well?
Photo II and AP Photo go on tons of field trips?
Remember when?
Ms. McGovern was famous last year after she won Teacher of the Week? Press, press and more press.
Student Government hosted Pajama Day the week of Sadie Hawkins Dance?
The 2010-11 Yearbook staff took pictures of you for the mugshot section of the yearbook at lunch using Photo Booth?
Brad Efune started Best Buddies at Chaparral?
Taylor Ray was always on Firebird Word for Best Buddies and Lookout Club?

Why not take Yearbook?
Do you want to help make a memory book that will last a lifetime for students?
I'd like to suggest Yearbook to you. You get to make spreads for clubs such as Best Buddies, the largest club on our campus and sports such as state champion Boys and Girls Tennis. You also work with an editor on the page when you need to edit your spreads.
We work with Mrs. Lineberger's Photo/Digital Media III Honors class, which was formerly known as Photo II on our spreads, as they take pictures of sports!
Ocassionally, a lucky student for Photo I might get to a few staff head shots and that was me in 2010-11.
"Yearbook and Photography go hand in hand. We use the skills in Yearbook." - Lindsey Eaton
The teacher of the class, Ms. Shcolnik gives inspirational pep talks to the staffers and editors. She often says, "Go team!"
In May, yearbook staffers handle distribution for the whole school in the ticket windows. You must sign up for distribution as it is part of your letter grade.

Scariest with the most reaction from students and teachers
Ms. Lineberger
- One student said this to her during Photo 1, "Lineberger, you're freaking me out."
- My immediate reaction when I got my yearbook today and saw this picture in my head, "Is that Ms. Lineberger or not?"
- Ms. Shcolnik said when she saw that picture she didn't know who it was at first.

Teachers:
Think of something to write... in case students take tons of space.
This is the perfect time to be ASSERTIVE and say "Can I sign your yearbook now?"
Ryo and I were laughing at some of the same things at lunch such as senior mosts and spreads.
Ryan is now 2-0 he saw her in that picture and at prom!
